Parent Conferences
Communications with parents are very important to us at SUMC Nursery School! Working with preschoolers is a three-way team involving:
This is an important and necessary communication, linking all of us, with adults in charge and concerned about the primary well-being and self-esteem of the child. The child’s needs and personality, as well as his/her understanding of what adults deem important, is of primary importance to the relationship’s effectiveness. We at school need to understand the home philosophy; parents need to understand the school’s philosophy. This understanding will satisfy your child’s needs for consistency and communication between these two vital parts of his/her life. Then we can all work together for your child’s best growth and development.
When do conferences occur? You will meet with your child’s teacher twice this year to talk just about your child.
The first meeting for all parents will occur in mid November. This meeting will be a time to focus on who your child is and how your child learns and relates to others.
The second meeting for all parents will be in mid March . This meeting will focus more on your child’s attainment of skills and readiness for the next level of preschool or for kindergarten. We will focus on areas of strength versus areas for growth.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents of 4's requiring more information before registration may request a special conference in late January.
